Hi, I’m Kiyana ✨

I'm a Brooklyn-based Senior Product Designer at Spotify, working on R&D projects for Spotify Freemium. My work is currently under wraps, but check back again in the future...🔮

Before I joined Spotify, I was a Senior Product Designer at BuzzFeed, working on things like Tasty, Goodful, and the BuzzFeed iOS app. Prior to BuzzFeed, I was living on the West Coast – I studied Computer Science and Cognitive Science at UC Berkeley; I earned my Master’s of Human Computer Interaction & Design at the University of Washington; and I also worked on Yelp’s search experience in San Francisco.

Professional Work

I have professional experience working across web, mobile, and native platforms (iOS and Android). I have also worked on voice-enabled platforms, and developed a voice-design toolkit in compliance with Google’s conversation design guidelines. In addition to my formal title of Product Designer, I have informally led UX research efforts at both BuzzFeed and Yelp.

Incorporating photo attachments into Yelp’s mobile review writing flow in order to increase user-generated content growth.

Overseeing and evangelizing user experience research at both Yelp and BuzzFeed.

Graduate Projects

I graduated from the University of Washington in 2016 with my Master’s of Human Computer Interaction and Design. This interdisciplinary program integrates courses from four departments at UW – the Information School, the Human Centered Design and Engineering department, the Computer Science department, and the Division of Design within the Art School.
